  • Pay overtime for people who do not meet the criteria for ‘exempt’
  • Document the performance problems of difficult people to avoid a retaliation claim when you get around to letting them go
  • Treat employees as employees, not independent contractors 

I perceive lots of ministries and churches are exposed on the first and third points.
