Giving trends for first 9 months of 2010 improve slightly

Guidestar reports good news in survey of over 2,500 charities: 2010 Fundraising Survey Results: The Worst May Be Over.  They asked about giving trends for the January through September 2010 timeframe compared to the same months in 2009.  The proportion of charities reporting that giving increased went up from 23% in 2009 to 36% in 2010.  The proportion of charities reporting their giving went down in the first 9 months of 2009 was 51% (half) compared to only 37% in 2010.  So, less organizations are reporting their giving declining and more organizations reporting their giving is increasing. Maybe we have seen the bottom of the giving cycle.  Perhaps.

At an overall level, that is about the same picture that Guidestar reported in May, which was discussed here.
